Dede has always had a big personality and an even bigger imagination. As a little girl, she was spirited, curious, creative, and known for keeping the grown ups around her on their toes.
But there was one thing you could almost always count on. Dede had a book in her hand. Her grandmother loved telling people that.
Books gave Dede places to go, people to meet, things to wonder about, and plenty of ideas of her own. When she wasn’t reading, she was exploring, creating, laughing, asking questions, and probably getting into a little something she wasn’t supposed to be.
Dede shared a special bond with her grandmother. That love, along with family, curiosity, humor, and a lifelong love of books, helped shape the spirited little girl at the heart of Dede’s stories.
